Join Our Team as a Laboratory Assistant in the Molecular Pathology Department

You'll work with advanced instruments, handle diverse samples, and contribute to the smooth running of a busy, supportive lab environment. Full training is provided

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and accession patient samples accurately using computer and barcode systems.
  • Prepare samples (swabs, fluids, tissue, faeces) for DNA/RNA extraction manually or with robotic instruments.
  • Use micro-pipettes precisely; perform occasional calibration and maintenance.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, organise reagents, and archive specimens.
  • Follow health, safety, and quality procedures to ensure a safe, compliant lab environment.
  • Provide reliable, professional customer service via phone and in-person.
  • Participate in training and support team development.
  • Contribute to lab efficiency and strategic goals.

What we are looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic team members who are organised, communicate well, and can work both independently and as part of a busy, motivated lab team.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Take pride in accuracy and efficiency, helping us meet laboratory turnaround times.
  • Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers.
  • Be comfortable using a PC and Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Stay focused on achieving laboratory goals while contributing to a positive team environment.

Previous lab experience is a bonus but not essential. Full training is provided, and we've found that people with backgrounds in hospitality (especially fast-paced barista roles) develop the precision, multitasking, and customer service skills that help them excel in this position.
