Blood Bank Scientist

We are seeking a dedicated Blood Bank Medical Scientist to join our specialised laboratory team. In this vital role, you'll contribute to safe transfusion and antenatal practices, support complex case management, and ensure critical, high-quality outcomes for patients and clinical partners. Key Responsibilities

As a Blood Bank Medical Scientist, you will be responsible for:

• Performing a range of routine and advanced blood bank testing;
• Liaising with clinical and laboratory clients to ensure appropriate management of cases;
• Assisting regional laboratory staff with complex transfusion investigations;
• Upholding quality standards by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
• Following all occupational health & safety policies to maintain a safe workplace for yourself and others;
• Delivering reliable and efficient service levels to meet the needs of internal and external customers.

What we are looking for

While full-time applicants are preferred, part-time candidates will be considered where operational requirements allow. Applicants must be flexible to work across day and evening shifts as part of a 7-day roster and, with experience, will be required to participate in the on-call roster.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

• A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or similar field);
• Specific experience in transfusion science / blood bank operations;
• Ability to work methodically, accurately, and efficiently while managing workload priorities;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to confidently liaise with stakeholders;
• Capacity to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team;
• A commitment to high-quality laboratory practice and continuous improvement.
