About the role:
Proactively manage the Information Technology function at Chambers Russell Lawyers including providing strategic leadership from an IT perspective and enhancing security controls to manage cyber threats and maintain a secure Information Communication Technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
User Support & Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to IT tickets, emails, and walk-up support requests.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including laptops, printers, Teams, OneDrive, MFA, and permissions.
- Escalate complex issues and liaise with external vendors (such as TML and Lenovo).
- Document issues, resolutions, and maintain follow-up communication with staff.
System & Network Administration
- Manage VOIP systems, call forwarding, MFA, and network printer setups.
- Apply system updates, security baselines, and monitor IT infrastructure performance.
- Maintain and update user access controls and permissions across platforms.
Security Management
- Administer and maintain security platforms such as Mimecast, Netskope, and Microsoft Intune.
- Manage conditional access policies to enforce secure authentication and device compliance.
- Monitor security alerts, resolve incidents, and escalate where necessary.
- Ensure proactive protection against phishing, malware, and data loss threats.
Vendor & Stakeholder Liaison
- Coordinate with external IT service providers and hardware/software vendors to resolve issues.
- Schedule and participate in meetings with service providers for escalated concerns.
- Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders regarding IT and security matters.
Onboarding & Administration
- Set up and configure accounts, laptops, and software for new starters.
- Purchase, deploy, and configure new hardware/software as required.
Reporting, Documentation & Planning
- Prepare IT activity reports and summaries for management review.
- Update spreadsheets and logs to track IT issues and resolutions.
- Maintain IT asset records and update internal IT tracking systems.
- Develop and maintain the IT roadmap, including planning and delivering security upgrades, workflow efficiencies, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Communicate business cases for new initiatives, progress updates on projects, and highlight unresolved matters to relevant stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- 7+ years' experience
- Strong experience building and evolving a Microsoft environment and cyber- security strategy
- Strong customer facing / business consulting mindset
- Strong management ability - to manage a managed service provider through expansion
- Alongside function management, happy to be prepared to do onsite practical work.
- Proven experience in IT support or systems administration role
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network systems
- Experience administering IT security platforms such as Mimecast, Netskope, and Microsoft Intune.
- Knowledge of conditional access policies and Microsoft 365 security frameworks
- Ability to lead and deliver IT road mapping projects focused on security upgrades, workflow efficiencies, and cost savings
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
