We're partnering with a leading retail brand seeking an experienced Head of People & Culture to lead and elevate all people functions across both retail stores and head office operations.

This is a highly influential role that plays a key part in shaping culture, driving engagement, and ensuring operational excellence across Australia and New Zealand. You'll manage a small team while working closely with the leadership group to deliver impactful HR strategies that support growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all people and culture functions across retail and head office.
  • Lead ER and grievance processes with empathy and sound judgment.
  • Drive HR operations with a strong retail focus, ensuring compliance with NZ employment law.
  • Implement and optimise HR systems and processes.
  • Ensure alignment of policies and practices across AU and NZ.
  • Partner with legal teams on documentation, compliance, and risk management.
  • Champion L&D, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Oversee payroll processes and the full employee lifecycle.

Ideal Candidate would have:

  • Background in retail or hospitality is essential.
  • Experienced across both strategic and hands-on HR leadership.
  • Deep understanding of NZ employment legislation and compliance.
  • Confident managing a small team and working in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment.
  • Skilled in building strong relationships and driving HR improvements from the ground up.
  • NZ-based or open to relocating (relocation support provided).
