About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to support a senior executive team within a government agency at the intersection of governance, academia, and parliamentary services. You'll collaborate with commissioners, academics, and high-level executives, providing secretariat support across strategic meetings and briefings, including committee meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretariat support for executive and stakeholder meetings.
  • Prepare agendas, take concise and critical notes (not verbatim), and track follow-up actions.
  • Accurately document key decisions and ensure actions are followed through.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including commissioners and academics.
  • Navigate complex governance, parliamentary, and academic terminology with precision.
  • Support the Assistant Director and collaborate with the Parliamentary Services Officer.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold APS standards.
  • Operate confidently in high-stakes environments, demonstrating pragmatism and attention to detail.

About You:

  • Prior experience in a secretariat role within the APS is essential.
  • Strong note-taking and documentation skills, with the ability to extract key points efficiently.
  • Comfortable with governance, parliamentary, and academic terminology.
  • Professional, pragmatic, and discreet-well-suited to a stoic, grounded personality.
  • Able to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships.
  • High attention to detail and diligence in managing sensitive information.
  • You thrive in high-stakes environments and are pragmatic, detail-oriented, and confident in your work.
