Bruce Avery Transport is an Australian-owned family business specialising in linehaul freight from Perth to Darwin and servicing the regional areas. Our large client list includes major companies from all industries, including fellow transporters, mining, retail, construction, and agriculture.

We currently have a position for a Workshop Manager to join our team in our South Guildford depot.

The role:

  • Assess priorities of work to be undertaken and allocate daily tasks for the workshop staff.
  • Manages the labour and workshop resources, delivering best practice repairs, maintenance, and customer service solutions
  • Maintains good working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors for parts and outsourced essential services
  • Oversee and manage all daily operations within the workshop, including repairs, maintenance, and service of heavy diesel vehicles and equipment
  • Develop excellent working relationships with workshop employees to ensure efficient teamwork
  • Ensures maintenance is carried out according to planned timeframes, quality requirements, customer service levels, and operating efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Ensures compliance with safety legislation and Company safety systems and procedures

What you need:

  • Fully qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with relevant trade certificate
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment
  • Must have experience in supervising tradespeople and scheduling/coordinating the maintenance of resources
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
  • Strive for continuous improvement of maintenance processes and educate drivers in the proper care of assets
  • Current and valid driver's licence
  • Required to provide technical, practical, and 'hands-on' support when short-staffed and in urgent situations
  • Good time management and strong leadership skills
  • Knowledgeable in Kenworth and American-based trucks
