About The Client
Our client is a Queensland Government initiative committed to the eradication of fire ants. The program operates in partnership with landholders and stakeholders to protect the environment, agriculture, and community from this invasive pest. The organisation values collaboration, innovation, and effective delivery of environmental management programs.

About The Role
WorkPac are seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to join the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST). This role will lead and coordinate aerial treatment projects, manage project data, and engage with landholders and government stakeholders to implement effective fire ant management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate FAST aerial treatment projects using strong project management skills
  • Analyse and visually present geospatial data using ArcGIS
  • Provide line and people management support to the project team
  • Engage with government agencies and stakeholders to obtain consents and build relationships
  • Coordinate project activities, reporting, risk tracking, and deliverables
  • Lead data recording, mapping, field data capture, and integration into departmental IT systems
  • Provide technical advice to large landholders on surveillance, treatment, and reporting
  • Plan and coordinate landholder engagement and land-based treatments where needed
  • Represent the Department at workshops, field days, and meetings
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across the National Fire Ant Eradication Program
  • Undertake occasional weekend work as required

Skills And Experience Required

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within environmental, biosecurity, or government programs
  • Proficient in ArcGIS and geospatial data analysis
  • Demonstrated line management and people management skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience
  • Solution-focused with the ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Strong coordination, reporting, and risk management abilities
  • Ability to provide technical advice and support to landholders
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and flexible work arrangements
