The Protective Services Group (PSG) provides essential safety and security services across Queensland. Within PSG, the First Nations Project leads culturally informed initiatives that strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and enhance capability across the workforce. Our team works collaboratively with police, government, and community partners to deliver respectful, place-based outcomes.

Our team works collaboratively with police, government, and community partners to deliver respectful, place-based outcomes.

The AO6 Senior Project Officer will play a key role in coordinating strategic projects, driving innovation, and embedding cultural safety and continuous improvement across the Protective Services portfolio.

Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, overview and evaluation of strategic projects that contribute to the alignment of business outcomes for the department.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and overview of appropriate strategies, policies, standards and guidelines in line with agency requirements.
  • Represent the department on committees and working parties.
  • Prepare and review reports, briefing notes, submissions, business cases, departmental and other correspondence in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Deliver presentations and reports to senior executives and represent the business unit and agency at internal and external forums.
  • Provide high quality, well researched advice on emerging and business improvement issues likely to affect the provision of policing services and develop strategies and options to deal effectively with these issues as required.

Role Requirements
Desirable

  • Experience in project management, training design, or program delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments.

Other

  • Applicants must be willing to travel to remote and discrete First Nations communities for periods of up to six weeks.
  • Duties may involve periods of work from PSG Makerston House (Brisbane) and the QPS Academy (Oxley or Townsville).
