This isn't just another dev role; it's an opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's reshaping how essential industries train their workforce. You'll be instrumental in developing immersive, realistic VR simulations that improve safety, efficiency, and expertise across high-stakes environments.

What you'll do:

  • Design, implement and maintain gameplay and systems code in Unreal Engine using C .
  • Contribute to project architecture, estimation, and technical direction in both Agile and Waterfall environments.
  • Collaborate with the art and design teams to ensure features hit visual and performance targets.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and subject-matter-experts, providing clear technical explanations, accurate budgets and timelines.
  • Uphold code quality, profiling, and optimisation standards across the project.
  • Support and guide less-experienced engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
What you'll bring:
  • At least 4 years professional software-engineering experience (games, simulation, or real-time 3D).
  • Strong Unreal Engine expertise, including advanced C and Blueprint integration.
  • Hands-on VR development (Meta/Quest preferred).
  • Solid version-control practice with Git (branches, PRs, CI workflows).
  • Comfortable designing and consuming REST web APIs.
  • Familiar with performance profiling, memory optimisation and QA pipelines.
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar – or equivalent industry experience.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus points if you have:
  • Multiplayer or networking experience in Unreal.
  • Exposure to other HMDs (Vive, Varjo, PS VR 2, Apple Vision Pro).
  • CI/CD scripting (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and automated testing.
  • Interest in XR interaction paradigms and human-factors design.
