We're seeking an experienced and detail-driven Payroll & Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance team. This role is ideally suited for someone with strong payroll expertise who is also confident handling accounts payable. If you thrive on accuracy, deadlines, and supporting a large workforce, this position offers both variety and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll (Primary Focus – 50%)

  • Review, verify, and approve employee timesheets across multiple sites
  • Process weekly/monthly payroll in line with company deadlines
  • Prepare and post payroll journals into the accounting system
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Oversee employee onboarding for payroll purposes, including setup of new employees in payroll systems
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work and statutory requirements

Accounts Payable (50%)

  • Enter, code, and post supplier invoices accurately
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve variances
  • Prepare and process weekly/monthly supplier payments
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and reporting
  • Support continuous improvement in AP processes

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience handling employee onboarding for payroll purposes
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation and awards/agreements
  • Solid background in accounts payable or a dual payroll/AP role
  • Proficiency with payroll/accounting systems (MYOB, Employment Hero or similar; LS Central a plus)
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in payroll and/or accounts payable
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
