About the Role
We are currently seeking a Male Disability Support Worker to assist a male participant who presents with complex behaviours of concern. This position is best suited to someone calm, reliable, and understanding — someone who can build genuine trust while maintaining professional boundaries and ensuring a safe, structured environment.
Your support will help the participant develop confidence, engage in the community, and enhance daily living skills in a positive and respectful way.
Key Responsibilities
- Behavioural Support: Follow and implement individualised behaviour support plans to encourage positive outcomes and maintain safety.
- Daily Living Assistance: Provide respectful support with personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and routine activities.
- Medication Support: Administer prescribed medications safely and record accurately according to the care plan.
- Community Participation: Encourage and assist the client to engage in social and community activities, fostering independence and inclusion.
- Crisis Response: Use approved de-escalation and support strategies during challenging situations, maintaining a calm and supportive approach.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document progress notes, behavioural observations, and incidents in line with organisational standards.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with families, healthcare professionals, and fellow support workers to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in professional development, supervision, and training to build skills in behaviour management and disability support.
About You
- Hold a Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related qualification.
- Have prior experience working with individuals who display complex behaviours (highly regarded).
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of remaining calm under pressure and using positive behaviour strategies.
- Show empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of others.
