Walters Contracting Pty Ltd is a Tasmanian family-owned business, transitioning into a 3rd generation earthmoving, quarrying and civil contracting business. Founded 55 years ago in Northern Tasmania, we continue to provide State-wide services to range of businesses, municipal authorities, agricultural and private developers.  With offices based out of Deloraine and Devonport, we are looking to build on our growing team with the addition of an experienced Project Manager.

Reporting to the CEO and working alongside the General Manager, you will primarily be responsible for the management of our civil crews ensuring that our project targets are being met, liaising with the supervisors and crew to make sure all materials, plans, equipment ect are ready and the jobs are being completed in a safe manner.

You will also be required to assist in the tendering process, helping prepare quotes & estimates, and liaising with subcontractors, customers and employees to ensure that pricing is accurate, submitted on time and the project is implemented well & runs smoothly.

This senior role will be based out of our Deloraine office on a permanent basis, with the opportunity to work partially from our site in Devonport if required.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and producing accurate project records and reports.
  • Conduct commercial, risk and profitability reviews with the leadership team.
  • You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships, building on our brand within our existing and future clientele.
  • Maintaining and Driving safe work practices and culture

ABOUT YOU

You will have the ability to be flexible, think outside the square and communicate effectively, as well as;

  • Min. 2 years' experience working within a project management environment. (Experience in civil construction estimating will strengthen your application)
  • Engineering Degree
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and professionalism with the ability to engage with all people from all walks of life
  • A strong, financial, and commercial acumen, as well as the ability to identify new project opportunities and deliver on company strategic plans
  • High level attention to detail and the ability to work to set timeframes
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying / Engineering or similar equivalent, is an advantage (not compulsory)
