  • $97,099 per annum plus Superannuation

Proactively develop and deliver Council's external digital and social communications activities to raise awareness of Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the development and delivery of an annual content plan to raise awareness and inform our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Research, develop, implement, and evaluate online and digital communication campaigns to positively promote the City, Council and its services, facilities, events, and activities.
  • Support the implementation of a results-driven social media strategy, to raise awareness, connect and engage with our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Advise on the most appropriate social content to enhance engagement on posts to promote and inform the community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Maintain Council's website content and assist in the coordination of its management.
  • Help innovate and evolve Council's websites, ensuring good governance, functionality, search, and appropriate and targeted content.
  • Provide high-level communications advice for senior decision-makers on key issues, policy matters and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.
  • Provide sound advice and thought leadership to the Coordinator, Digital, Brand and Publishing and Manager, Strategic Communications on a range of issues.
  • Support the strategic review of Council's communications tools and recommend and implement changes to ensure that they are engaging, innovative, targeted, appropriate and cost-effective.
  • Help monitor and audit Council's digital communications to ensure consistency with Council's brand and corporate identity and align with its values.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

  • Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of communications strategies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and consult in a socially and politically sensitive environment.
  • Ability to plan, research, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.
  • Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats including online and digital communication and social media.
  • Proficiency in project managing the production of customer communication materials in a corporate environment for a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and innovating digital communication channels.

Required Certifications & Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public relations or marketing or a similar field.
  • A current driver's licence.
