Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Bronte Surf Life Saving Club Inc Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

WHO WE ARE

Situated along Sydney's iconic Bondi to Bronte coastal walk, Bronte Surf Life Saving Club (Bronte SLSC) boasts a rich history dating back to its inception in 1903 as one of the founding clubs of surf lifesaving.

Part of the Surf Life Saving Australia movement, the Club exists to help save lives at Bronte's picturesque but often challenging and dangerous beach. We do this by providing volunteer surf lifesaving patrols, coastal water safety awareness and education, first aid, and community engagement. Bronte SLSC was recognised as NSW Surf Life Saving Club of the year in 2022/2023 and we are proud of our inclusive culture and community engagement.

We are about to embark on an exciting and historic project to rebuild our Clubhouse, which is more than 50 years old and at the end of its lifecycle. This project commenced planning over 10 years ago and it is an integrated building incorporating Waverley Council professional lifeguards and parkland maintenance staff.

Upgraded facilities and technology will enable us to respond more effectively to emergencies, provide more innovative training, and foster a stronger connection with the community, ensuring our beach remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Building our new Clubhouse and community facilities requires substantial financial resources from multiple contributors.

While a significant portion of the Club's funding has already been secured, we need to raise an additional $1.5m towards our contribution to the redevelopment. The Fundraising Lead will be responsible for raising this amount through member, community, corporate and philanthropic donations.

The role will report to the Director of Fundraising, who is a voluntary advisor to the Club's Board of Management. The role will also work closely with the Club President and General Manager to secure the $1.5m fundraising target.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the existing fundraising strategy including refining plans and activities as needed to achieve fundraising target by December 2026.
  • Identify, engage, secure and manage prospective donors from amongst Club members, the local community, local businesses, affiliated or relevant corporate organisations, and philanthropic organisations.
  • Develop and distribute fundraising communications through existing and new channels including the Club newsletter, website, social media, local media, Tap & Go.
  • Produce information and tools to support groups within the Club to fundraise, for example, patrol groups, Nipper age groups.
  • Record and manage donations and pledges in an accurate, timely and confidential manner, and in accordance with donors' wishes.
  • Analyse and report on key fundraising activities.
  • Target potential sponsors for Club fit out needs.
  • Support the acquittal of government and other grants towards the Clubhouse rebuild including coordinating and fulfilling milestone reporting requirements.
  • Assist with collating information for grant applications for the Clubhouse rebuild and fit out, as required.

WHAT WE OFFER

We may not be able to match big corporate salaries—but we can offer the following:

  • An immediate start with an initial contract period of 12 months
  • Flexibility to work from home, our beachfront location, or interstate for the right applicant.
  • Family friendly hours and days - approx. 24hrs per week.
  • Financial benefits through tax-free salary packaging.

HOW TO APPLY

If this role sounds like it was written for you, send a copy of your CV with a covering letter outlining why you are the perfect fit to Kimberly Johns,

Applications close 9am Monday 8 September and interviews will be held the following week.
