About the Role
As the Project Manager (Capital Works), you will take ownership of end-to-end delivery of capital works, refurbishments, and retail fit-out projects. The role combines hands-on project engineering with strategic oversight, requiring a highly organised and adaptable professional who can manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and compliance while ensuring successful outcomes across multiple sites.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage multiple capital works projects from initiation through to completion.
- Oversee procurement processes, including tender preparation, evaluation, and contract execution.
- Track project progress, manage budgets, and provide accurate reporting.
- Conduct site visits to monitor quality, WHS compliance, and contractor performance.
- Liaise with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to align project delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement by implementing structured processes and templates.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management highlighting progress, risks, and key metrics.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in capital works, construction, fit-out, or client-side project management.
- Experience delivering projects in live environments.
- Strong capability in procurement, contract administration, and financial tracking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Bluebeam.
- Understanding of Australian building codes, WHS regulations, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and time management.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification
in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Desirable:
- Experience in
Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA)
or property development/construction.
