Head of Human Resources – Urban Group
Urban Group is a national leader in Australian caravan manufacturing, specialising in high-quality, innovative caravans built for strength, reliability, and comfort. With over 150 staff across five sites, we are committed to building a safe, skilled, and high-performing workforce that drives operational excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
We are now seeking an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead our national people strategy and drive workforce capability, engagement, and compliance across all operations.
About the Role
The
Head of Human Resources
will be responsible for developing and executing Urban Group's HR strategy across our national network.
This includes overseeing workforce planning, talent acquisition, training and development, employee relations, compliance, health and safety, and organisational culture.
As part of the senior leadership team, this role partners closely with the CEO and other executives to ensure Urban Group attracts, develops, and retains top talent while maintaining a culture of safety, excellence, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Organisational Development
- Develop and implement a national HR strategy aligned with Urban Group's business objectives.
- Lead workforce planning and organisational development to support future business growth.
- Design HR policies and frameworks that build a high-performance culture.
- Drive transformation, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead end-to-end recruitment across all sites, attracting top industry talent.
- Oversee apprenticeship and graduate programs to build a sustainable skills pipeline.
- Enhance onboarding and employer branding initiatives to strengthen retention.
Learning, Development & Capability Building
- Develop leadership, technical, and skills-based training programs.
- Implement structured learning frameworks and succession planning strategies.
- Oversee digital learning and on-the-job training systems.
Employee & Industrial Relations
- Manage employee relations and industrial relations matters across multiple sites.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work, NES, and workplace laws.
- Advise senior leaders on HR and IR issues, including dispute resolution.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Compliance
- Develop remuneration frameworks and benefits programs that support attraction and retention.
- Ensure payroll compliance in partnership with internal teams.
- Oversee HR metrics and compliance with all WHS, EEO, and Fair Work obligations.
Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- Partner with the WHSE Manager to implement WHS strategy and compliance initiatives.
- Lead wellbeing, return-to-work, and risk mitigation programs.
- Maintain compliance with WorkSafe, EPA, and Dangerous Goods standards.
About You
- Extensive HR leadership experience in multi-site, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations, and WHS compliance.
- Proven ability to lead HR strategy, workforce planning, and cultural change.
- Experience in developing L&D frameworks and succession planning programs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or Industrial Relations.
