About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a world-class library collection, with a particular focus on materials that document and reflect the architectural history and built environment of New South Wales. You'll be part of the Library Services Division, a reader-focused team that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence in service delivery.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and assess potential acquisitions across all formats, including architectural plans, publications, and visual materials, ensuring alignment with the Collection Development Policy.
  • Undertake research and develop interpretive content for exhibitions and public programs, with a focus on architectural and design-related themes.
  • Source materials to fill gaps in the collection, including rare and significant architectural documents, archival records, and digital resources.
  • Manage relationships with donors and suppliers, including those contributing to the Cultural Gifts Program.
  • Lead or support projects that enhance the visibility and accessibility of architectural collections.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and scholarly content for internal and external audiences.
  • Represent the Library in professional forums and respond to complex collection inquiries.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a detail-oriented and culturally aware professional with a strong interest in architecture and design history. You bring:

  • Experience in evaluating and acquiring library materials, particularly those related to architecture and the built environment.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to produce interpretive and scholarly content.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including working with donors, suppliers, and cultural institutions.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • A commitment to accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and public service excellence.
