Primary objective
Undertake assessments of construction project Plans, including Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management, Aboriginal
engagement, Local Content and Project Quality to ensure they meet relevant legislative obligations and conform with contractual
requirements and the commitments made in the tender response schedule.
Context statement
The Contractor Compliance Unit (CCU) operates as an independent audit unit responsible for undertaking 2nd party audits and
assessment of contract management plans on DIPL construction contracts. Audits are primarily outsourced to a panel period
contract of consultant auditors, with internal Contract Audit and Investigations Officers being deployed to on-site audits dependent
on risk. The CCU also supports the department to achieve its obligations as a Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU)
as designated under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Interpret and analyse construction conditions of contract and legislative requirements relating to WHS, Aboriginal engagement,
Local Content and Project Quality to ensure compliance with Contract requirements and make a recommendation to the
Superintendent.
Liaise with Project Managers and Contractors regarding contractual obligations to ensure an accurate and timely response.
Maintain databases, including data cleansing, to ensure the work unit's monitoring and reporting commitments are met.
Provide support to the audit team with scheduling audits and other administrative duties as required.
Stay up to date on changes in legislation, procedures and policy in order to provide guidance and accurate and informed advice
to internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively monitor invoices to verify works completed and follow-up on outstanding payments.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to interpret legislation, standards and conditions of contract to provide technical and contract advice to internal and
external stakeholders on construction projects.
Proven ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a collaborative team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications with a sound knowledge of reporting and information management databases.
Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex
information to diverse target audiences.
Ability to research and analyse data from multiple sources, investigate and provide options and recommendations.
High level of personal integrity, ability to manage confidential information and demonstrated sensitivity to political and cross-
cultural organisational issues.
Desirable
1. A qualification in Work Health and Safety awarded by an Australian institution.
