Marketing and Communications Advisor

Are you a creative, community-minded marketing and communications professional ready to make a real impact? Join our Community Impact and Innovation Team and help shape the way we engage, inform and inspire the community within the Sutherland Shire.

In this role, you'll bring the work of our Community Impact and Innovation team to life — from championing local events and programs to boosting awareness of important Council initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with a supportive team and partner across Council departments to deliver impactful, consistent communications that drive participation and connection.

Key functions you'll be championing include:

• Events
• Economic Development
• Ocean Safety
• The Animal Shelter
• Community Venues and Property

• Lead campaign planning and delivery to support community initiatives, events and programs.
• Manage social media content for the Community Impact and Innovation team, including short-form videos and reels.
• Create high-quality content and marketing materials in alignment with Council's brand and tone.
• Partner with Council's Communications and Engagement Team to ensure cohesive messaging across all channels.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support campaign goals and community outcomes.

• A degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field – or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience in a marketing or communications role, ideally with a focus on community engagement.
• Strong knowledge of digital marketing, including paid campaigns (Meta, Google Ads, etc.).
• Creative eye with practical experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, or similar.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills – able to juggle competing priorities with ease.
• A collaborative, proactive and people-focused mindset.

• Package: $93,854 - $99,489 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
• Hours of work: Permanent full time, working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council's flex system.
