About The Opportunity

The Campbelltown Mental Health Service is offering exciting permanent opportunities for Staff Specialist Psychiatrists, available as full-time or part-time appointments. Based within the newly redeveloped Mental Health Service at Campbelltown Hospital and Campbelltown Community Health Centre, these positions provide the opportunity to work in state-of-the-art facilities designed to support safe, high-quality psychiatric care across acute, subacute, and specialist units. Staff Specialists will play a key role in delivering and shaping models of care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and providing supervision and mentorship to registrars and junior medical staff. With strong links to teaching, training, and research, as well as the opportunity to contribute to innovative service development for a growing and diverse population, these positions offer an outstanding setting for clinicians seeking both professional growth and long-term stability.

What You'll be doing

Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the Chief Executive (CE) on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

  • Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  • Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
  • Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level
  • Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call roster
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
