Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a part-time basis (2 days per week). This role is ideal for someone seeking flexible work arrangements while contributing meaningfully to the financial operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Manage monthly payment run, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
  • Prepare various journal entries (prepayments, accruals & leave provisions etc.)
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation
  • Prepare and lodge payroll tax
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Support quarter-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assist in preparing management accounts
  • Assist with the annual audit
  • Assist with payroll processing and employee expense claims as required
  • Provide administrative support as required

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Good grasp of accounting principles & Australian taxation system (including GST, BAS, PAYG)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
