Primary objective
The Manager, Registrations and Authorisations is a pivotal role to the success of the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory.
This position leads a team responsible for processing registration and authorisation applications, managing related enquiries, and handling
confidential information. As the system owner of the Register of Teachers, the Manager ensures data governance and compliance with
legislative and policy requirements, including mutual recognition across jurisdictions. This position reports directly to the Director.
Context statement
The Office of the Board supports the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory, an independent statutory authority,
administered by the Department of Education and Training and reporting to the Minister for Education, Training and Early Education. The
Board is charged with maintaining teacher registration and teacher standards in the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Design and manage systems for teacher registration and authorisation, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.
2. Oversee assessment outcomes, moderation, and data integrity across the team, maintaining high standards and confidentiality.
3. Create clear guidelines, Board papers, and stakeholder communications to support transparency and shared understanding.
4. Lead and support a high-performing team through peak periods, training staff and managing complex enquiries.
5. Maintain the Register of Teachers, ensuring data governance, secure information handling, and alignment with national priorities.
6. Represent the NT in national forums (e.g., ATRA) and manage team budgets, procurement, and HR in line with NTG policies.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) and National Police Clearance.
2. Demonstrated high level knowledge and application of the National Framework for the Registration of Teachers, ACECQA National
Quality Standards and other NT and Commonwealth Legislative frameworks which inform registration, authorisation.
3. Evidenced record of accomplishment of policy, process and resource development that enables high volume and diverse application
management, stakeholder engagement and secure information management of confidential information.
4. Demonstrated exceptional oral, written and communication skills including an ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and team
members, articulating professional expectations, author Board and other government documentation and establish cyclical
communication plans for diverse stakeholders and interested parties and participate in national representative groups.
- Demonstrated human and resource management skills including the ability to maintain confidentiality, secure information, take direction,
and manage competing deadlines and workloads for team members that enable timely responsiveness in meeting external demands and
expectations.
- Experience governing a critical database/platform with multiple points of input, reporting requirements and threats to data validity.
Desirable
1. Leadership experience facilitating change in data digitisation and transition from analogue to information communications
technologies and systems-based solutions.
2. Experience in a regulatory setting
3. Tertiary and/or post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline
