Primary objective
To coordinate and deliver day-to-day property management and commercial tenancy services for the Darwin Waterfront Corporation, supporting
the effective operation of Stokes Hill Wharf and other commercial precinct areas. The role ensures accurate lease administration, responsive
stakeholder engagement, and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements, contributing to the strategic activation and development
of the Darwin Waterfront.
Context statement
The Darwin Waterfront Corporation (DWC) is a statutory authority established under the Darwin Waterfront Corporation Act to develop, manage,
and promote the precinct for community benefit, residential and business use, and as a venue for events and entertainment.
Under a Head Lease with the NT Government, DWC manages Stokes Hill Wharf's commercial and property operations.
Working in a small team and reporting to the Corporate and Governance Manager, this role manages lease and operational agreements, supports
long-term planning, and works with tenants to enhance and diversify precinct offerings for visitors and the local community.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and administer commercial lease and operational agreements, including preparation of documentation and financial records.
2. Maintain and update the property management system (Progen) keep lease records current, provide accurate information for invoices, track
payments and compliance obligations, and generate operational and financial reports.
3. Monitor tenant compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations including insurances, registrations and alignment with relevant laws
and regulations.
4. Build and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, contractors and stakeholder to support precinct operations.
5. Respond to public, tenant and contractor enquiries professionally, ensuring timely resolution of operational issues and maintenance requests.
6. Support the development of commercial opportunities aligned with precinct activation, including long-term or temporary use of public space.
7. Prepare standard correspondence, reports and financial summaries for review by management.
8. Supervise and support an administrative staff member, overseeing general office duties and public-facing services.
9. Provide occasional office management support, including diary and calendar coordination, conference room bookings, and related
administrative tasks.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience coordinating or administering property, lease or contract documentation in a commercial or government environment.
2. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
3. Sound interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to liaise with a broad range of tenants, contractors and colleagues
to support service delivery.
4. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence and maintain records
accurately.
5. Proficiency in using business systems and software (e.g. property management or finance systems), with a focus on data integrity and process
improvement.
6. Understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, relevant legislation such as the Darwin Waterfront Corporation Act, by-laws and
regulations as well as leasing legislation and regulations.
7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and sound judgement in day-to-day
decisions.
Desirable
1. Qualifications or training in property, business administration or a related field.
2. Familiarity with commercial leasing principles.
3. Current NT Drivers Licence
