Primary objective
The Executive Officer oversees high-level strategic administration, business processes and strengthens intra and interagency
collaborations, ensuring integrity and compliance with procedural, policy and legislative frameworks under which the Office of the Teacher
Registration Board operates. This position reports to the Director and manages a small team in activities encompassing office management.
Context statement
The Office of the Board supports the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory, an independent statutory authority established
under the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act 2004. The Board is responsible for maintaining teacher registration and upholding
teacher standards in the Northern Territory, including managing professional conduct matters, accrediting initial teacher education courses,
supporting teachers at all career stages, and certifying Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice, high level executive, administrative and secretarial support to the Director.
2. Oversee business processes including record management, office work plan management, activity scheduling, preparing meeting
papers, financial reporting and office logistics, with a view to improve business processes.
3. Manage discrete strategic projects which require diverse stakeholder input and participation.
4. Undertake research and provide insight through review and analysis into key policy or material issues that inform the Board's strategic
direction or decision making.
5. Liaise effectively and discreetly with intra and inter-agency departments and external stakeholders for the purpose of
collaboration and engagement.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administration support to an executive-level officer.
2. High-level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse
backgrounds.
3. Proven ability to manage and collaborate with teams to prioritise activities, meet deadlines and respond to competing demands
and pressures with a level head and solutions-focused approach.
4. Demonstrated success in workplan, program and/or project management which contains multiple streams of work to timely and
effective outcomes.
5. Well-developed management skills with proven ability to work effectively with minimal direction and achieve outcomes in a climate of
significant change.
6. Proven ability to evaluate and develop procedures for administrative processes such as procurement, human resources information
management and other logistics as required
7. Ability to implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to identify areas for continuing improvement.
8. Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint) and record management systems with a willingness
to adopt new technology.
Desirable
1. Bachelor level or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
2. Knowledge and understanding of government systems and processes including human resources, financial functions, preparing
reports, discussion papers and high-level correspondence
3. Contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
4. First aid certificate, or willingness to obtain
5. Safety warden training
