Primary objective
As a senior member of staff, under the direction and in consultation with the Head of Campus, undertake educational
leadership and ensure the provision of quality educational programs and behaviour management for students in detention
experiencing a wide range of complex trauma. Supporting the Head of Campus in leading a professional culture of high
expectations.
Context statement
Top End School of Flexible Learning is a multi-campus flexible education provider. This position is based at the Malak Campus
and supports the Palmerston Campus. The school seeks to inspire young people to realise their full potential by developing
and utilising their unique talents and capabilities; by supporting students to find a sense of purpose and value in themselves
as productive and worthwhile members of our community. Top End School of Flexible Learning offers a supportive and
flexible learning program that aims to meet the individual needs of students.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake teaching responsibilities as required and be responsible for specific administrative duties.
2. Lead NTCET delivery and engagement across the campus, including all administrative, ICT, and logistical needs as well as
facilitating professional learning for staff.
- Provide our VET trainer with logistical and administrative support while leading VET Transitions and Pathways.
- Provide leadership and support in the formulation and review of school policy, procedures and strategic plans to achieve
educational outcomes in partnership with the school community.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and a Current Working with Children
Clearance Notice.
2. Demonstrated experience leading an education team including teachers, support officers, and administrative staff.
- Demonstrated success in leading the coordination, of Individual Learning Plans and high-quality teaching and learning.
Comprehensive knowledge and delivery of transition, pathways and flexible learning programs.
Proven high level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to apply negotiation and conflict
resolution skills.
6. A proven commitment to the embodiment and leadership of best practice in education. With reference to Trauma
Informed Practice, strength-based pedagogies, differentiation, and cross-cultural relevance.
Desirable
1. Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willing to complete upgrade.
- Knowledge of relevant personnel, agencies and government departments including youth justice that can provide
appropriate services for youth at risk.
