About the Role
MSC is seeking Support Workers to join our team in delivering direct care and support to consumers/participants living with complex care needs and chronic medical conditions. The support Workers will provide quality services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, to consumers / participants accordance with relevant care plans including complex personal care, assisted transfers, medication administration, implement behaviour support plan requirements etc.

The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Provide high-quality person-centred care services to complex care consumers/participants in accordance with care plans and national Aged Care/Disability service standards
- Provide personal care support to complex care consumers/participants such as showering, toileting, shaving, oral hygiene, dressing and eating
- Provide direct support in line with therapy plans such as interventions to assist those with dementia and behavioural support plans, rehabilitation exercises according to physiotherapist developed home exercise plan
- Observe and report changes and deterioration in the consumers/participants condition using a range of monitoring tools like bowel care charts, medication logs etc. as required
- Undertake complex care tasks in line with the consumers/participants individual health care needs as outlined in their relevant care plan, tasks include but are not limited to testing blood sugar, observing skin integrity, peg feeding, assist with catheter care, simple wound dressings, supervise medication dosage and admission
- Support consumers/participants to achieve their NDIS and Aged care goals and uphold the rights, choice and dignity of consumers and/or participants
- Develop positive and respectful relationships with the consumers/participants and their family/carers, i.e., treat them courteously and professionally
- Actively supporting the human rights of consumers/participants and alert supervisors immediately, if he/she is being subjected to any form of abuse and neglect
Selection Criteria
- Certificate III/IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Mental Health, or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in delivering person-centred care and support in complex environments, with a focus on promoting independence and quality of life.
- Proven ability to provide high-level, responsive, and respectful support to clients with diverse and complex needs. Experience supporting individuals with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities using trauma-informed, culturally safe, and rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to assess client needs and respond appropriately in dynamic or challenging situations. Uses initiative and sound judgment to manage risk, escalate concerns, and support positive client outcomes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients, families, and professional stakeholders. Ability to document case notes clearly and maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Shares knowledge, supports peers, and contributes to a positive team culture. Experience mentoring or guiding less experienced support workers is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and sensitivity to, diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD communities, and people from LGBTQIA+ backgrounds. Ability to adapt support to meet varied cultural needs.
- Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and maintain accurate records in line with organisational policies and legal requirements. Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, duty of care, privacy, and workplace health and safety responsibilities.
- Willingness to participate in training, reflective practice, and supervision. Actively engages in professional development and quality improvement processes to enhance service delivery.
Desirable:
- Fluency in a language other than English (Bilingual with a preference for candidates who speak Burmese, Italian, Cantonese and Arabic in order to meet the needs of the clients we provide services to)
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds
