Element Engineering Australia is setting a new standard for innovation, speed and technical excellence in Perth.
We design and manufacture advanced IoT hardware, robotics and automation systems that connect the physical and digital worlds.
Our Cranio platform powers rugged IoT devices, web systems and robotics infrastructure for clients across mining, energy and manufacturing.
With full in-house engineering and manufacturing capability, we build everything from sensor networks to intelligent machines.
We are now seeking a Systems Administrator – Robotics & IoT Infrastructure to manage and improve the technology backbone that keeps our engineers, devices and clients connected.
The Role
You will manage a hybrid environment built around Microsoft 365 and Windows Server systems, integrating open-source tools where they add value.
The focus is on stability, consistency and automation. You will maintain critical infrastructure, support engineers across disciplines and help refine the processes that keep everything running smoothly.
As the company grows, this position will progress toward a senior infrastructure lead role with the opportunity to mentor junior IT administrators.
What You'll Do
You will work with:
- Windows, Windows Server, Linux, macOS
- Microsoft 365, Intune and Autopilot, MS Graph, Active Directory, DFS
- PowerShell, Ansible, Python, Bash
- Proxmox, Proxmox Backup Server, ZFS, Ceph
- Unifi, pfSense, OpenVPN
- GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Docker Swarm
- Zabbix monitoring
- 3CX telephony
Your responsibilities include:
- Keeping core systems online and healthy, including hypervisors, authentication providers, license servers, web servers and backups.
- Configuring and maintaining systems for consistency, manageability and security, following best practice and documenting changes.
- Automating maintenance and deployment tasks using PowerShell and, where relevant, Ansible.
- Managing mixed Windows and Linux systems for both office and field deployments in robotics and IoT.
- Supporting engineers across mechanical, electronic, software and firmware disciplines.
- Planning and testing backup and disaster-recovery strategies.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of internal documentation and processes.
About You
You are a practical systems administrator who enjoys building reliable infrastructure and solving complex problems. You are comfortable working across Windows and Linux and understand why automation and documentation matter.
You will bring:
- Experience with Windows Server, MS365 and Linux administration.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash and Ansible.
- Working knowledge of networking, VPNs and firewalls using pfSense and Unifi.
- Understanding of storage systems and virtualisation. Experience with Proxmox, ZFS or Ceph is highly regarded but not essential.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
- A mindset of ownership, accuracy and continual improvement.
We value grit, aptitude and personability.
Why Join Element Engineering
