About the Role

Workforce Extensions Geelong are currently assisting Furphy in seeking a skilled Industrial Blaster and Painter to join the Paint Department in Geelong. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience in sandblasting and industrial painting who is looking for a stable, hands-on position in a professional and safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Sandblasting:

  • Prepare surfaces using abrasive materials (sand, grit, or other media) to remove rust, paint, scale, and contaminants.
  • Operate sandblasting equipment, including machines, hoses, and nozzles, adjusting settings as required.
  • Ensure surfaces are properly profiled to enhance coating adhesion.
  • Maintain safety by using appropriate PPE and following ventilation protocols.
  • Inspect surfaces post-blasting for defects and carry out necessary corrections.

Painting:

  • Prepare and mix paint or coating materials to manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply coatings using spray, brush, or roller techniques, ensuring correct coverage and thickness.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify irregularities and ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Monitor drying and curing times to maintain coating durability.

General Duties:

  • Assist in maintaining continuous production operations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Paint Manager, Production Staff, and other departments.
  • Comply with all safety and industry regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required by management.

About You

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Minimum 1 years' experience in industrial painting and sandblasting.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Good physical fitness and manual dexterity.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.

Desirable attributes include:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Forklift licence, Dogman ticket, Confined Spaces, Level 2 First Aid, or White Card (preferred).
