We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual looking for real impact in their work. The Operations Project Officer position is a full-time, field-based position, which will assist the establishment of biodiverse carbon tree planting projects and undertake plantation maintenance activities (either directly or via supervision of contractors) in Central Western NSW.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver on ground project maintenance that assists the delivery of biodiverse carbon tree planting projects.
· Hands on maintenance repairs of project fencing, fire break maintenance, spraying operations, assisting with revegetation activities.
· Assist with vertebrate pest management activities.
· Undertaking quality assurance plots and measurements during the plantation establishment phase.
· Communicating and developing working relationships with rural neighbours and other parties (e.g. agistees and state government agency staff).
· Undertake data collection and mapping works using GPS and GIS tools.
· Planning, engaging, and overseeing sub-contractors delivering works.
· Preparing operational work requests and prestart documentation, site inductions,
· And ensuring OHS requirements are followed.
· Reporting stakeholder or broader community issues to the NSW State Operations Manager.
· Be available for occasional overnight travel to support project delivery and site-based activities.
Experience required
· A Certificate in natural resource management, agriculture, or other relevant discipline
· Current unrestricted driver's licence (a Medium Rigid (MR) licence is desirable but not essential).
· Experience in chemical application, such as firebreak and spot spraying.
· ChemCert accreditation (or willingness to obtain) is desirable but not essential
· Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
· Able and willing to work in field operations in varying environmental conditions.
· Logistics support planning and basic project management skills.
· Ability to communicate project / program status to ensure continuity of workflow and manage operational issues.
