The Opportunity

As the First Nations Engagement and RAP Advisor at WA Return Recycle Renew, you will play a hands-on role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and to foster respectful, meaningful, and culturally safe relationships with First Nations peoples, communities, and organisations.

We are seeking a passionate and strategic professional to lead the implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), ensuring initiatives align with our broader business objectives and contribute meaningfully to reconciliation outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and deliver impactful RAP initiatives that drive organisational effectiveness and align with scheme-wide goals.
  • Ensure RAP projects are embedded within the business strategy and championed across all levels of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the RAP Working Group (RWG) to coordinate deliverables and promote inclusive engagement activities.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with First Nations communities, sponsored organisations, and other key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and deliver shared outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate cultural initiatives and events such as NAIDOC Week, National Reconciliation Week, and yarning circles to build awareness and support internal cultural capability.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and cultural advice to guide First Nations projects, ensuring alignment with organisational values and goals.
  • Monitor RAP progress, including tracking key deliverables, timelines, and impact measures in accordance with Reconciliation Australia guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain RAP-related tools, templates, and communication resources to ensure consistency, clarity, and relevance.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement systems, maintain accurate contact records, and implement feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee governance processes, including reporting ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Support recruitment and procurement strategies that promote First Nations participation and economic inclusion.
  • Manage RAP budgets and associated activities, ensuring alignment with annual business plans and risk mitigation for First Nations engagement.

This is a full-time opportunity, based in Subiaco.

About you

  • We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience and strengths in the following areas:
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Aboriginal stakeholders and businesses, and developing networks and relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with parallel timelines for delivery.
  • Preferred qualification in community development, community services or related fields, or demonstrated relevant work experience.
  • Preferred experience with Reconciliation Action Plans (desirable)
  • Preferred experience working within a not-for-profit environment (desirable)

  • A valid Western Australian driver's license
