YOUR ROLE
Based at James Goold House, the Workers Compensation Advisor plays a key role in supporting injured employees and facilitating safe and timely return-to-work outcomes across MACS schools and offices.
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Injury Management, this role is responsible for the end-to-end management of workers compensation claims, including assessing claim eligibility, supporting recovery and return to work, liaising with key stakeholders and external agents, and managing disputed or litigated claims.
You will work closely with MACS leaders, employees, treating practitioners, insurers, and legal representatives to ensure best-practice claims management and compliance with legislative requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Coordinate the management of workers compensation claims, from lodgement through to return to work or closure.
- Conduct investigations and prepare documentation including incident and witness reports.
- Collaborate with employees, treating practitioners, agents and school leaders to support injury recovery and return-to-work planning.
- Manage weekly compensation entitlements, treatment approvals, and maintain compliance with relevant legislation.
- Provide advice and support to schools and MACS office staff on workers compensation procedures and obligations.
- Oversee disputed claims, including representation at the Workplace Injury Commission and legal proceedings.
- Maintain accurate injury and claims records, data systems, and reporting documentation.
- Engage in internal and external claims reviews to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Support senior leaders and managers in applying legislative requirements and best practice recovery strategies.
ABOUT YOU
- You bring a strong understanding of the Victorian workers compensation scheme and relevant legislation.
- You have hands-on experience managing a broad range of workers compensation claims, including return-to-work planning and dispute resolution.
- You are confident navigating complex stakeholder relationships, including injured workers, insurers, legal representatives, and senior leaders.
- You are proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused, with strong documentation and case management skills.
- You are committed to employee wellbeing and safe work practices, and value collaborative, ethical work environments.
