Cosmic Group Services is a fast-growing close-knit team of highly experienced professionals operating in the renewable energy industry. We specialise in the Installation Service and Maintenance of all major wind turbine manufacturers, both onshore and offshore, across the APAC region.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to support our finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, with a primary focus on end-to-end payroll processing and customer invoicing. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to reconcile discrepancies efficiently. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate payroll execution while contributing to broader accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Payroll Management

  • Process weekly/fortnightly/monthly payroll for employees.

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, superannuation, and other statutory requirements.

  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies with precision.

  • Maintain employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, salary changes) in the Xero system.

  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns, superannuation contributions, and other statutory filings.

  1. Customer Invoicing/Billing

  • Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices in alignment with contract terms and project deliverables.

  • Verify supporting documentation (timesheets, purchase orders, service daily reports) prior to invoicing.

  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies and resolve customer queries.

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments.

  • Maintain invoice templates and ensure compliance with client-specific billing requirements.

  1. General Accounting Support

  • Process accounts payable/receivable transactions.

  • Assist with month-end/year-end closing.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts.

  • Support the preparation of BAS, IAS, and FBT returns.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial tasks.

Skills and Experience

  • 3 years of experience in payroll processing.

  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Xero) and intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).

  • Exceptional attention to detail—ability to spot errors and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation (Superannuation Guarantee, STP, Fair Work Act).

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
