Sydney, New South Wales, Australia JMES (Jon Michel Executive Search) Full time $120,000 - $250,000 per year
  • Capital Raising / Capital Formation
  • Growth Equity & Venture Capital
  • Sydney (with regular international travel)

Our client is an iconic early-and growth-stage investor with a long-standing, enviable track record backing Australia and New Zealand's most successful technology companies. As the firm enters its next phase of expansion, we are seeking a world-class Head of Capital Raising/Head of Capital Formation to lead the development of the firm's distribution engine and drive capital formation across new and existing strategies.

This is a crucial senior leadership role with strategic accountability for building and nurturing a global pipeline of institutional and private capital partners, strengthening relationships with existing LPs, and shaping the firm's long-term fundraising strategy. You will report directly to, and work in close partnership with, the firm's Partners.

We are looking for an exceptional relationship-builder—commercially curious, globally connected, and deeply aligned with a collaborative, high-performance, team-first culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Capital Formation & Fundraising Leadership

  • Lead capital formation and fundraising activities across all new and existing strategies, driving growth in funds under management
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing investors while expanding reach across Institutional LPs, Family Offices, Endowments, Charitable Foundations and High Net Worths — domestically and internationally
  • Build, pre-qualify and manage a robust pipeline of aligned, long-term LPs, with a particular focus on attracting new international investors
  • Lead initial and ongoing investor meetings, articulating the firm's strategy, vision, and differentiated value proposition with clarity and conviction
  • Conduct thoughtful discovery to understand LP motivations and tailor messaging accordingly.
  • Travel internationally on a regular basis to deepen global LP relationships

Investor Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead the planning, strategy, development, and execution of the firm's investor relations initiatives
  • Ensure seamless management of investor communications, briefing notes, roadshow materials and all external-facing fundraising collateral
  • Own and manage the Investor Relations CRM, ensuring meticulous pipeline tracking and continuous stakeholder visibility
  • Partner closely with internal senior stakeholders, keeping them informed on core investor conversations, market feedback and fundraising progress.
  • Serve as a cultural leader—modelling a team-first mindset and prioritising long-term partnership outcomes

Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

  • Design and implement a long-term fundraising strategy across global investor channels
  • Map and assess the global investor landscape, identifying the institutional partners best aligned with the firm's growth trajectory
  • Provide the partnership with actionable insights on private markets, capital flows and competitive dynamics
  • Create initiatives—events, content, reporting—to deepen engagement with current LPs and strengthen the firm's brand with prospective partners

Role Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in blue-chip financial services environments, ideally within venture capital, growth equity, private equity, investment banking, capital markets, or institutional sales
  • Proven track record raising institutional capital and/or leading investor relations for alternative investment funds
  • Strong existing relationships across institutional LPs, family offices, private wealth firms, endowments, and charitable organisations—in Australia and internationally.
  • Deep knowledge of private-capital structures, LP motivations, fund dynamics, and industry trends
  • Exceptional relationship-builder capable of cultivating trust with sophisticated investors over decades and fund cycles
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify market opportunities and design effective capital-raising strategies
  • Outstanding communication skills—written, verbal, and visual—capable of representing the firm with clarity and influence
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented operator who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and can operate autonomously
  • High initiative, resourceful and motivated by collective success rather than individual wins
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications (CFA highly regarded; adviser compliance beneficial)

This is a rare chance to join a highly regarded investor with a proven portfolio, a collaborative and ambitious culture, and a strong trajectory of future growth. The successful candidate will play a defining role in shaping the firm's global capital relationships and long-term strategy.

You must have full working rights for Australia to be considered for this role.
