Marketing Communications Manager

Who we are:
Willow & Blake is a Melbourne-based creative branding agency, bringing brands to life all over the world.
We're a small team but a hungry one. We don't come to work to do the bare minimum or churn out mediocre brands. We're here to do good work, great work; work that we are proud of. We're all ambitious and hardworking. But we know how to work smarter, not harder. And that there's nothing smart about chaining creatives to their laptops for ludicrous hours a day.
Over the last 14 years we've built and scaled over $1 billion worth of consumer brands. Our speciality is in the beauty, health, fashion and wellness space. Alongside that, hospitality is fast becoming a key category for us. Which is good for our folio but even better for our stomachs.
In the past 12 months here's a small example of the work our team has done:
-Rebranded a 150 year old fashion brand
-Created iconic haircare brand Bouf from scratch
-Created a new brand for one of Australia's leading health brands
-Art direction for a luxury homewares brand
-Launched "For Scale" our business advisory program for consumer brands
-Campaign concepts that made our clients blush, laugh and cry.
What we're looking for:
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for running all marketing initiatives for Willow & Blake, acting as an internal growth engine to attract new business, strengthen our reputation, and showcase our creative work. You will lead the development and execution of our marketing calendar, amplify our case studies, manage digital channels, create thought-leadership content, and run events.
You are equal parts strategist and doer. You understand the nuances of consumer branding and know how to tell compelling stories that engage audiences and drive interest.. You're comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving environment where no task is too big or too small. You're curious, creative, and commercially minded, with a passion for building brands.
This role blends business development, marketing strategy, and creative execution in equal measure.
To start the role will be focused on W&B the agency (as the client) but there is scope for the role to extend to For Scale and Willow & Blake client work, as well as our owned brands.
This is a part time role, commencing at 2 or 3 days a week and scaling up from there over time.
What you'll do:
Marketing Strategy + Execution
- Build and own the annual/quarterly marketing calendar for Willow & Blake.
- Develop ideas and initiatives to attract new business leads through brand-building, PR, social, and thought leadership.
- Ensure all case studies are created, published, and amplified across web, social, PR, and client outreach.
- Pitch and place agency work in relevant press and industry publications.
- Plan and execute in-person events to position Willow & Blake within the creative and business community.
- Develop and distribute white papers, trend reports, and other thought leadership initiatives.
- Position our senior team as thought leaders and find opportunities to build their profiles.
Content & Channel Management
- Run all Willow & Blake social channels to drive engagement, relevance, and inbound interest. Including the creation and uploading of content- copywriting and light design skills needed please note we have in-house designers also.
- Oversee email marketing, ensuring consistent, high-quality distribution of updates, case studies, and insights.
- Manage the Willow & Blake website to ensure content is current, compelling, and reflective of our capabilities.
Execution & Project Management
- Personally execute marketing initiatives rather than just briefing others — from writing copy, uploading content to coordinating events.
- Collaborate with internal creative teams for asset development, ensuring deadlines are met and brand standards are upheld.
- Track, measure, and report on the performance of all marketing activity, providing insights and optimisations.
Extended Scope
- Support the marketing efforts of brands in which Willow & Blake holds equity.
- Contribute to developing marketing strategies for select client consumer brands as the role evolves.
What you'll bring to the table:
- 8+ years' marketing experience, ideally a mix of agency and in-house brand roles.
- Deep understanding of consumer brands and the consumer goods landscape.
- Proven experience developing and executing full-funnel marketing strategies (brand, digital, social, PR, events).
- Strong writing, content development, and communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads through marketing activity, ideally in a creative/agency environment.
- Hands-on executional skills, from writing a press release to running a social calendar or event.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- An entrepreneurial, proactive mindset with a passion for creative brands.
What life is like at W&B:
- We're anti-fluff and egos.
- We value our clients more than awards
- Bonus Happy Annual Leave Days
- Training/Professional development budgets for all team members
- A flexible, hybrid work arrangement to partially WFH as well as stunning custom built office in the best part of Melbourne CBD
- Access to some of the worlds most exciting up and coming businesses as well as a stable roster of trusted brands
