About the Role

This is a leadership role with tangible impact. You'll drive our Marketing and communications strategy end-to-end, from shaping national campaigns and digital content to supporting executive messaging, internal engagement, and brand governance. Every day, you'll help turn complex workforce initiatives into clear, compelling stories that engage and inspire action across Australia's skills ecosystem.
Working closely with colleagues across Workforce Innovation, Industry Engagement, and Research, you'll ensure our communications are aligned, measured, and continuously improved. You'll also play a key role in lifting the visibility of AUSMASA's work as a national Jobs and Skills Council, strengthening how we connect, inform, and influence.
This is a Fixed-Term opportunity till June 2028.
Key Focus Areas
Strategic leadership:
Lead the design and delivery of a cohesive communications and marketing strategy that strengthens AUSMASA's presence and influence across the VET and workforce sectors.
Content and storytelling:
Translate complex workforce reform and training initiatives into engaging, accessible content across digital, media, and internal channels.
Digital engagement:
Oversee AUSMASA's website, social media, EDMs, and analytics, using data to refine audience reach and engagement.
Internal communications:
Build a connected, informed, and engaged workplace culture through clear and consistent internal messaging.
Team leadership:
Guide and mentor a small communications team, fostering creativity, accountability, and collaboration across projects.
Collaboration and influence:
Work closely with senior leaders, project teams, and external partners to ensure communications amplify AUSMASA's impact across the Jobs and Skills Council network.
About You
You're a strategic marketer and communicator who balances creativity with structure. You thrive on connecting purpose with impact and enjoy working across multiple projects and channels. You bring:
• Proven experience leading communications or marketing functions, ideally within complex or reform-focused environments.
• Strong digital and storytelling capability, from shaping strategy to delivering hands-on content.
• Experience mentoring others and building communication capability across teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted partnerships.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and the confidence to influence at all levels.
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field are essential.
Why Join AUSMASA?
At AUSMASA, you'll be part of a team driving meaningful change that shapes Australia's future workforce in the mining and automotive sectors. We're collaborative, inclusive, and purpose-driven, and we value people who want to make an impact.
You'll enjoy:
• A supportive and flexible hybrid work environment
• Opportunities for professional growth and meaningful collaboration
• Work that makes a national difference
• A culture built on respect, inclusion, and wellbeing
• A central CBD location with excellent facilities
