About the Role

Nauru Medical Centre is seeking a highly connected and experienced Medical Tourism Coordinator to support and expand our Overseas Medical Referral (OMR) program. This role focuses on facilitating and coordinating the treatment of Nauruan patients, particularly those requiring specialised or complex care such as oncology and surgical cases, in Australian hospitals.

The ideal candidate will already be living in Australia or Fiji, have established relationships within the Australian healthcare system, and be capable of managing all aspects of international patient coordination, from hospital engagement to treatment logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Patient Management

  • Lead and manage Nauru's outbound medical referrals, ensuring smooth coordination of patient care in Australian hospitals.
  • Source and negotiate treatment quotations and packages for specialised and complex procedures (such as oncology, cardiac, and surgical).
  • Develop comprehensive medical travel packages that include treatment, accommodation, visas, and transportation.
  • Liaise between patients, Nauru Medical Centre, and healthcare providers to ensure efficient communication and case updates.

Hospital and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with hospitals, medical specialists, and healthcare networks in Australia.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Nauru Medical Centre and partner hospitals.
  • Provide ongoing insights on pricing, availability, and treatment options.
  • Represent Nauru Medical Centre in relevant forums and meetings when required.

Strategy, Reporting and Support

  • Support the development of strategies to improve access, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of overseas medical referrals.
  • Maintain accurate case records, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare regular progress reports.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to refine program operations and explore new partnerships.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, business, tourism, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in medical tourism, international patient coordination, or healthcare partnership management.
  • Proven track record of working with Australian hospitals or healthcare providers.
  • Strong negotiation, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of hospital referral processes, medical billing, and patient support logistics.
  • Highly organised and able to work independently in a remote environment.
