THE ROLE
We are looking for a curious, proactive Business Development Manager who is eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. You will drive growth by supporting acquisitions, conducting commercial analysis, and leading various business development initiatives.
In this key role, you will help build and manage the acquisition pipeline, negotiate deals, assist with due diligence, and contribute to other strategic projects that support the company's expansion goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential acquisitions with the marketing team
- Research, track, and update a live register of acquisition targets
- Prepare briefing documents and valuations for executive review
- Communicate clearly with brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and assist with negotiations
- Support commercial and operational due diligence (financial, legal, operational)
- Coordinate with teams to meet deadlines and compile data rooms
- Assess performance metrics and document risks
- Assist with financial models, forecasts, and business cases for acquisition approvals
- Work with legal to manage acquisition documentation
- Support integration planning and post-acquisition reporting
- Participate in cross-functional projects across operations, product, supply chain, and IT
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Business, or a related field desirable
- 2+ years' experience in commercial, strategy, M&A support, or business development roles
- Optical industry experience will be highly regarded
- Exposure to multi-site retail, healthcare, or professional services (desirable)
- Financial modelling, market analysis, or reporting experience (preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Commercial mindset with strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
