Job Description
At Ambulance Victoria (AV) we are proud to share our commitment to save and improve lives by providing outstanding care for our patients. This is our promise to every patient, and it sits at the heart of everything we do. No matter what corporate or support role you play in delivering our critical services to Victorians, you will join a team dedicated to bringing our vision to be a world-leading ambulance service to life.
We are seeking a Manager Media to lead an experienced and high-performing team of media and public relations professionals to anticipate issues, react to the news cycle and positively frame AV's clinical excellence, research and its reputation through proactive and reactive media, stakeholder and government relationships. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you and your team will deliver strategic communications, advocacy and media campaigns across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of community and organisational needs, and political nuances in which you operate. You will provide expert guidance and strategic advice while delivering exceptional people leadership within your area of responsibility in the Communication and Engagement Directorate.
This is a full time, permanent position. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster office in line with our hybrid working model.
About The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Media, responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:
- Respond proactively to emerging challenges and opportunities and seize opportunities in dynamic environments.

- Build and maintain a culture of support, accountability and shared success that produces productive outcomes.
- Enhance AV's reputation and authority within the health sector and wider community; positioning AV as an expert and world-leader in pre-hospital patient care and statewide coordination.
About You
To be considered for this position you will possess:
- Completion of a postgraduate degree or relevant industry certification in communication, public relations, journalism or related field, with high level relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and sound experience.
- Proven experience leading teams to deliver high-performance, growth and development and an aligned and engaged culture.
- Demonstrated successful experience delivering communications, media liaison, public relations, brand advocacy and government relations in a complex organisation, ideally with a knowledge of the health or emergency services context.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing, designing and delivering a range of communications materials and strategies in a variety of mediums. Well-developed knowledge of best and emerging practices in the field, including digital and traditional media.
- Proven ability to recognise emerging issues and proactively respond with well-considered responses or solutions, demonstrating sound judgement and issues management capability.
- You will be required to be available outside of ordinary working hours to provide advice, support or authoritative direction to other employees or managers involved in dealing with emergency or time critical incidents or issues (CAA1).
Working at Ambulance Victoria
As a valued member of AV, you will enjoy a professional working environment that recognises the importance of work/life balance. We offer salary packaging options, generous personal leave entitlements, accrued days off for full time roles, and other benefits including free on-site parking.
We believe our people are our greatest resource and the sustainability of our workforce depends on how well we utilise our people's skills and abilities and whether our staffing reflects the diversity of the Victorian community. If you are ready to be an integral part in bringing our values of
