BOOK KEEPER AND OFFICE MANAGER

  • Join a small property and commercial law firm in a permanent parttime role (working with two solicitors, a conveyancing paralegal and legal secretary)
  • Remuneration and days and hours to be negotiated but approx. three days per week – hours can be spread over four days
  • To start as soon as possible
  • In-office role in Fortitude Valley - close to public transport and many amenities

  • Office Manager Scope:

  • Manage equipment and liaise with providers for IT, printers, off-site storage and digital software

  • Premises management – liaising with rental manager
  • Managing insurance policies of business and personal assets – cars, home and contents insurance
  • Processing QLS Practicing certificate renewals
  • Occasional personal travel flight bookings
  • General reception duties – answering phones
  • Bookkeeper Scope:

  • liaising with external Accountant for personal and professional accounting matters including quarterly BAS, GST and income tax

  • Managing ATO payments
  • cash flow reporting, fee earner reporting, work flow reporting, financial reporting
  • Experience operating a trust account desirable

  • Work across all areas of the accounting system

  • Assist with entering and payment of creditors as required

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, legal regulations, and industry standards

  • Support financial audits and reviews as required, including assisting with preparations of QLS Audit requirements with external accountants/auditors

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of financial information

  • Managing credit cards and CommBiz

  • Ad hoc administrative support to other staff members including supporting Legal Secretary

Other requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a law firm or legal environment
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent qualification, or minimum 3 years' practical bookkeeping experience
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency, or valid work visa with appropriate work rights
  • Experience working with Affinity software and Xero desirable
