ABOUT US
Gallang Place is a not-for-profit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community based healing organisation established in 1994 to address intergenerational grief, loss and trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
We also operate Gallang Education and Training RTO#40564 to provide targeted training in Mental Health and Counselling, expanding the capacity of Community to deliver trauma informated and culturally appropriate healing across the country.

ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a full-time Administration Officer who will also undertake Reception duties.
This is a formally Identified position, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply to provide the most culturally appropriate supports for our clients. Please articulate your connection to country in your cover letter.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Administration Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining our client systems, data entry, customer service and referral processes.
- Work closely with program teams to ensure office supplies are maintained and readily available
- Communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people in culturally safe and appropriate ways
- Demonstrate and maintain positive interactions with clients and other agencies to ensure client referrals are processed effectively and efficiently
- Create, process and record correspondence
- Maintain centralised information registers
- Prepare documents for team meetings and take minutes, as required
- Arrange travel and accommodation as required.
- Collate and enter data / information and maintain client record, as required.
ABOUT YOU
Our ideal team member will have:
- Knowledge of, and experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and ways
- Relevant experience in an administrative role, ideally within the community services environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Great attention to detail and organisational skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Cert III in Business, Cert IV in Mental Health) or a willingness to complete will be highly regarded
- Event coordination experience will be highly regarded
- Experience editing web pages and organisational social media will be highly regarded.
