Assistant Accountant

Our company operates in a diverse range of industries across Australia with a head office situated in the Sydney CBD. The organisation has multiple-entity businesses which requires a junior accounting resource.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an assistant accountant, who will primarily have exposure to the growing business that we are developing. However, the role will also have exposure to the wider business, providing a range of support functions to the Finance team and working with the other divisions in the group.

Being based in the company's head office, the role offers the opportunity to grow into more senior finance roles in the future.

Overview:

The key functions of the role are to provide assistance to the Senior Financial Accountant. In this role, the appropriate candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Maintaining the monthly accounts for a number of companies.

  2. Completion of month‐end procedures, including;

  3. Preparing general journals.

  4. Completion of accounting reconciliations for both profit and loss and balance sheet.
  5. Completion of monthly bank reconciliations.
  6. Prepare BAS and  Activity Statements.

  7. Assist in the preparation of financial year budgeting and forecasting.

  8. Administration of supplier and customer rebates.

  9. Assist in the preparation of management and audited financial statements.
  10. Assist with payroll tax and withholding tax admiration
  11. Assist in negotiation and administration of asset leases.
  12. Assist in maintenance of property register.
  13. Provide prompt and accurate financial information to support business functions for strategic decision making.
  14. Preparation and submission of Banking application forms.

Attributes required:

  • 2 year minimum experience in an assistant accountant role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team player, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.
  • Process and deadline driven mindset with a keen eye for detail.
  • Critical thinking and problem‐solving skills
