About the role

The East Timor Partnership Project is a joint initiative of Merri-bek City Council, Hume City Council, which is supported by the Friends of Aileu Community Committee, a Working Group of the 2 Councils that meets bi-monthly. The role will assist in the delivery of key aspects of the project, principally in awareness-raising and fundraising, and mobilising community perspectives, knowledge, skills and resources to contribute to the friendship relationship with the Municipality and people of Aileu, Timor-Leste.

This role will provide opportunities for a flexible, enthusiastic and creative team worker to apply their initiative and well-developed communication skills interacting with other Council officers, members of the Friends of Aileu Community Committee and community supporters, and members of the Aileu Municipal Authority, Aileu partner organisations and community members.

Skills and experience require to perform the role
  • Experience in community and policy development or similar projects
  • Experience in fundraising activities and event organisation, and seeking corporate involvement and sponsorship
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in administrative procedures and maintaining accounts, purchasing
  • A current Working With Children Check
  • A relevant tertiary qualification will be an advantage
