Summary
The Construction Estimator is responsible for estimating construction costs, preparing bids, proposals, and negotiating contracts for
residential and commercial
construction projects. They collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to identify and quantify project requirements, prepare cost estimates, and identify potential project risks.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to identify project requirements and determine the scope of work
  • Research the cost of materials, equipment, and labor and use their expertise to determine the time, money, and labor required to complete the project
  • Prepare and present bids and proposals to clients, and negotiate contracts that are fair and reasonable
  • Track project costs and update estimates as necessary
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop schedules and identify solutions to problems that arise during construction
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends to ensure their estimates are accurate and competitive

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in construction
  • Knowledgeable about the latest trends and materials
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
