Elizabeth South Australia Brain Injury SA Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Are you a positive behaviour support practitioner who is looking to consolidate your skills and knowledge in the field of acquired brain injury? Brain Injury SA is expanding its PBS team, offering the opportunity for you to specialise in brain injury and other neurological conditions.

If you:

·       Are currently assessed as suitable as a behaviour support practitioner or

·       Are a developmental educator who has completed the PBS practicum or

·       Have completed the post-graduate certificate in PBS

and are looking to expand your experience in behaviour support this may be the role for you.

Based at our Northern hub (Elizabeth) this role will be supported to provide specialist behaviour support services to adults with a primary diagnosis of brain injury.

The role encompasses the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients where no two brain injuries are alike, therefore no two days at Brain Injury SA are the same. You will be rewarded in this role by building close relationships with your clients and their families and get to see real progress over time. As an organisation BISA prides itself on supporting people through their rehabilitation journey and consistently sees over 80% of clients achieving significant progress in their short- and long-term goals.

As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner at Brain Injury SA, you will have autonomy over your caseload and provide quality PBS services which focus on quality of life and supporting people to achieve their goals. Specialising in acquired brain injury will allow you to develop your understanding of how injuries to the brain can impact on emotional regulation and communication of needs.

Working within our established interdisciplinary team will provide you with a supportive environment to be creative in your approach to working with clients, exchanging ideas and sharing solutions, meaning you are never alone in managing complex cases.

You will be supported by a skilled PBS team with various clinical backgrounds. Individual and group supervision will be provided with opportunities for on the job coaching and support from an experienced supervisor.

You will also have full support from the Operational Management team at BISA, who are all clinicians that continue to offer clinical services alongside their management role.

Additionally, your role is supported by a corporate and administration team so you can focus on your clinical skills and the things you trained for.

Brain Injury SA is also proud to be in partnership with Monash University to support practitioners working in the community in South Australia to participate in their research about PBS+PLUS. PBS+PLUS is a research-based approach that combines commonly used behaviour support strategies with cognitive communication strategies to help people build a meaningful life after brain injury. The successful applicant will have full access to the introductory workshop as well as an opportunity to participate in the intensive supervision program running in 2026.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about positive behaviour support, supporting adults with a disability, and working within an inter-disciplinary team.

  • Has a strong interest in ABI and neurological rehabilitation (experience not necessarily required).

  • Is organised and enjoys a varied caseload.

  • Has a driver's licence and the right to work in Australia.

Part time and full-time applicants will be equally considered. Salary will be negotiated on successful application and level will be dependent on experience.

If you would like to find out more, please contact our Manager for Allied Health Operations and PBSP Lead Kathryn for an informal discussion and/or copy of the position description.

Enjoy all the benefits of working for a profit for purpose organisation including full salary sacrifice, flexible work arrangements and a passion for driving change for the brain injury community of SA and beyond
