We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer to lead the assembly and test of electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical equipment components to form sub-systems.

This role will be based in Orchard Hills- Sydney. You will work alongside highly skilled professionals in a collaborative and fast-paced environment that drives the success of Australia's defence capability.

About the role:

As a Senior Technical Officer, you will:

  • Assemble electronic and mechanical components in accordance with a specification or schematic.
  • Conduct minor mechanical repairs and modifications - such as drilling; threading, glueing and cutting of wood and metal.
  • Test equipment and subsystems according to test procedures by using common test tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators and analysers.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and process documentation associated with assembly and production.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis and problem solving associated with the component parts of a sub-system.
  • Maintain records, such as as-built configurations of equipment and test logs.
  • Assist with the development or refinement of test strategies, plans and procedures.

What you'll Bring:

  • Certificate IV in Electronic and Communications or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in assembling and interconnecting electronic components to form sub-systems and systems to perform specified functions.
  • Experience in delivery of instruction or training and communicating to groups.
  • Experience in conducting fault diagnosis and fault finding and resolution in electrical and electronic systems.
  • Experience working within an electronic test environment.

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
