Are you passionate about supporting families and helping individuals reach their potential? We're looking for a dedicated Parent Pathways Mentor to work alongside parents, guiding and motivating them as they set and pursue goals in employment or education. In this dynamic role, you'll provide tailored support and encouragement, helping parents build confidence and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future.
This is a part-time position (30–32 hours per week across four days), offering flexibility to suit your lifestyle. Two of these days will be outreach days, scheduled from 8:30am to 5:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break. Based in Deniliquin, the role includes outreach travel to Balranald, Finley, Corowa, and Moama/Barham, with a fleet car provided for the outreach travel.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Conduct initial meetings with participants to give them a positive start in the program.
- Make sure participants know they will work on important social, learning, and job-related activities during their time in the program.
- Help participants reach the goals set in their plan.
- Know about community services and referrals, document and follow up on referrals, and regularly get feedback on these services.
- Maintain key communication activities to ensure referrals meet the program's needs.
Qualifications and experience:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Career Development or similar qualification is highly advantageous
- Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing support services, especially for working parents, carer's, or students.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse participants.
- Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and other government programs.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of participants' diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences.
- Knowledge of community resources and services available to parents and carer's such as childcare, housing, and financial aid.
- Ability to interpret various guidelines and work within established frameworks.
- Highly motivated to achieve employment and training outcomes for participants, as well as organizational performance and KPI goals
