About the Role

The Active Transport Officer works collaboratively with the City's planning, operations, sustainability and public health teams to achieve a reduction in private car use through the promotion and enhancement of walking, cycling and public transport. The pivotal role is integral in influencing the transition of transport modes through the coordinating the  development, implementation and activation of the City's Bicycle Plan and a travel behaviour change work plan.

The role will also:

• Develop a comprehensive Travel Plan targeting the City's employees and with the assistance of those employees.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of the City's Bike Network Plan.
• Develop and implement programs that promote more sustainable transport and access options for the City's employees, residents and local businesses.
• Foster community involvement in and awareness of transport and access initiatives including Travel Demand Management programs such as Your Move Schools, Walking School Bus, and Your Move Workplace programs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement shared outcomes of the Enhanced Environment Strategy, Public Health Plan and Place Plans.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have:

• Sound knowledge and understanding of the principles of Travel Demand Management, including 'Your Move' programs and behaviour change initiatives.
• Considerable working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to traffic, cycling and pedestrian planning.
• Experience in the preparation of reports and submissions.
• Experience in identifying, developing and delivering community programs that encourage and promote behavioural change.
• Relevant qualifications and/or considerable experience in transport planning, travel behaviour change or a relevant field.
