The ACT Education Directorate is seeking an exceptional executive to lead system-wide education reform and policy development. As the Executive Group Manager, System Policy and Reform, you will drive transformational change to achieve quality education outcomes for all children and young people across the Territory.
Reporting directly to the Director-General, this role is responsible for leading inclusive education, early childhood and school reform, and advising on national education initiatives. You will oversee strategic planning, enrolment policy, and use of data and analytics to inform continuous improvement across the education system.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people with lived experience of disability are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic education policies and reforms across all schooling sectors.
- Provide high-level advice on national education reforms and manage ACT's participation in national assessment programs.
- Oversee regulatory functions including:
- Early childhood education and care regulation
- Registration and regulation of non-government schools
- Registration of home education and support
- CRICOS compliance for ACT schools
- Drive strategic school capacity planning and enrolment policy.
- Build strong partnerships across government, non-government, and national stakeholders to support best-practice delivery.
- Champion inclusive education and system-wide reforms such as Strong Foundations and Inclusive Education.
- Lead high-performing teams and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $376,285 - $389,635 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $333,737
