About Your Team
The Finance & Procurement department facilitates the delivery of the objectives of the Institute by ensuring that financial systems and resources are available as required. This incorporates financial management, including administration of all revenues and expenditures, payroll, grant administration, budgeting, and internal and external financial reporting.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities
We are seeking applications for an Assistant Accountant to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful medical research and be part of a supportive and innovative environment.
The Following Duties Will Apply
- Manage monthly and annual financial close processes, including reconciliations and payroll transactions
- Administer banking platforms and oversee daily cash flow and treasury functions
- Complete BAS statements and maintain asset registers, ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Assist with internal and external audits and provide timely financial data for decision-making
- Maintain accuracy of financial data across systems (Research Administration System and Payroll system into Technology One)
About You
You'll be someone who is organised and motivated by contributing to a purpose-driven organisation. You enjoy working collaboratively yet take ownership of your tasks with minimal supervision.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience with integrated financial systems such as Technology One
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office suite
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a small team

Remuneration:
The salary range is $106,376 to $115,730 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for up to 12 months as backfill for an employee on a period of approved leave.
