About the Role:

We are seeking an outstanding academic to join our growing team as a Lecturer in Power Engineering, contributing to both teaching and research within the School.

As a researcher, you will lead and contribute to impactful projects focused on power systems with high renewable energy penetration. You will actively collaborate with industry partners, pursue competitive research funding, and disseminate your findings through high-quality journal publications.

In teaching, you will deliver high-quality learning experiences for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. You will contribute to curriculum innovation, develop learning materials, and supervise honours, coursework, and higher-degree research students. Your leadership and service will foster a collegial environment, contribute to academic governance, and engage with the wider professional community.

Your responsibilities will include:

Research:

• Conduct high-impact research in electric power systems.
• Secure research funding and publish in top journals.
• Supervise research students and present findings at conferences.
• Build a national research profile in the field.

Teaching:

• Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Lead tutorials, practicals, and workshops to enhance student learning.
• Develop curriculum, assess student work, and coordinate units.
• Supervise honours and postgraduate coursework students.

Engagement & Leadership:

• Foster a collegial and supportive academic environment.
• Engage with industry, professional networks, and the community.
• Contribute to academic governance and internal service roles.

Qualifications:

1. A doctoral degree in power engineering, or a closely related field.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

1. Demonstrated teaching experience at higher education level, especially in Power Engineering related areas, as well as in the general electrical engineering field.
2. Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging, student-centred learning experiences at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
3. Knowledge of contemporary educational practices.
4. Proven research excellence in Power Engineering, with active contributions to advance the field, demonstrated through a strong track record such as high-impact publications in Q1 journals and industry collaborations
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.

Role requirements

1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
